SYDNEY, June 25 (World Daily Times) — Leah Stewart, who was attacked by a shark at Coogee Beach in Sydney on June 13, has woken from an induced coma and told her mother and partner Fernando, “I love you,” according to updates from her brother, Joshua Stewart.

Joshua Stewart said doctors were able to extubate Leah and reduce her sedation, allowing her to briefly wake in the intensive care unit after 10 days in a coma. He said she had undergone multiple surgeries after the attack, including surgery to remove her arm and treat other serious injuries.

In a later update, Joshua Stewart said Leah is awake, no longer in critical condition and able to communicate with family and medical staff. He also said she has been reunited with her young daughter, August, for the first time since the incident, marking the first night the pair had ever spent apart.
