SAN FRANCISCO, June 8 (World Daily Times) — OpenAI said it confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering Monday, starting a process that could take the artificial intelligence company toward public markets while leaving core deal terms undisclosed.

The company did not disclose the size or terms of the proposed offering, according to its statement as reported by Reuters. OpenAI also said a timeline for the offering “has not yet been determined.”

“It may be a while because there are things we want to do that are likely easier as a private company,” OpenAI said in the statement.

The confidential filing gives few immediate details for U.S. public-market investors. No share count, price range, exchange, ticker symbol, underwriters or use of proceeds was identified in the available company statement cited in the reports.

Reuters and related coverage have framed OpenAI’s filing alongside movement by rival Anthropic toward public markets, but the available materials did not include an Anthropic filing document or statement.
