WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 (Infinite Headlines) — CNN, MS NOW and Politico asked a federal judge on Sept. 28 to keep their White House press credentials restored while their lawsuit against President Donald Trump and White House officials proceeds, according to the news organizations’ court request. They are seeking a preliminary injunction that would extend the temporary protection already in place.

U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly ordered officials other than Trump to restore affected journalists’ hard passes in a Sept. 24 temporary restraining order. The order covers passes revoked on or about Sept. 18 and lasts 14 days unless the court changes it.

In their lawsuit, the outlets and three reporters say the ban violates their First Amendment and due-process rights. Kelly granted temporary relief on due-process grounds but did not decide the First Amendment claim. It was not immediately clear whether he had ruled on the Sept. 28 request.

The outlets said in a Sept. 24 court filing that the administration had not complied with the order to restore access and asked for an emergency follow-up hearing.
