SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa., July 5 (DC Times Online) — Pennsylvania authorities have charged Massachusetts truck driver Michael Bon in the crash that killed Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Michael Pahira, according to court records and reports from Fox News and CBS Boston.
Court records cited by Fox News list charges including homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and six lesser offenses. Fox reported that Bon, 33, of Brockton, Massachusetts, was being held at Schuylkill County Prison on $700,000 bail, with a court date set for July 15.
Fox News reported, citing federal immigration records, that the Department of Homeland Security terminated Bon’s parole in June 2025 and ordered him to leave the United States. The outlet also reported that DHS lodged an immigration detainer against him.
Fox said Bon entered the country in July 2024 through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport under the Biden administration’s humanitarian parole program and later applied for Temporary Protected Status, which was denied. The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles told Fox that Bon qualified for a non-domiciled commercial driver’s license in 2025 while he was authorized to work under federal law.
The Boston Globe reported, citing police records, that Bon was driving a white 2019 Freightliner with Florida registration DF64HU and a trailer loaded with clothing when the crash occurred. Fox News said Pahira had recently moved home to help care for his mother during cancer treatment.
