BOSTON, July 6 (Nationwide Times) — A German World Cup fan who said he was nervous about traveling to the United States says a trip to Boston ended with tears, gratitude and a new view of the country after local residents helped him get to his hotel.

Sebastian Krause said he had been “a bit scared” to come to the U.S. because of news reports about shootings, criminals and safety. In a televised interview, he said Boston residents drove him to his hotel after he got stuck at a stadium, and that the kindness left him with “tears in my eyes.”

“I fall in love with this country and this was so emotional, I even cried in the stadium,” Krause said. He also said, “America is great” and added, “Americans are not rude. Germans are not rude. If we are together, we can achieve great things.”
