INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 26 (Our Los Angeles) — The United States men’s national team lost to Türkiye 3-2 in Los Angeles, but the result did not alter its path in the tournament: the Americans had already clinched first place in Group D and will move on to the round of 32.

Türkiye got the winner from Kaan Ayhan in stoppage time after the teams traded goals at SoFi Stadium. Auston Trusty and Sebastian Berhalter scored for the United States, while Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz scored for Türkiye.

The loss was the United States’ first of the tournament after wins over Paraguay and Australia had locked up the group. Even with the defeat, the Americans stayed atop Group D and remained set for knockout play.

The United States is scheduled to face Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 1 in the round of 32, with several tournament reports placing that match in Santa Clara, California. The official match report listed attendance at 70,492.
